Igor Kolaric Earns Summit League Player of the Week

NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Igor Kolaric was named the Men's Tennis Summit League Player of the Week the conference announced Tuesday.

"What a great recognition for Igor after having such a fantastic weekend beating the top players for all three teams we faced," head coach Mark Klysner said. "We really could have had a couple of other guys also be up for the award, but Igor certainly deserved it and I'm extremely proud of him."

This is the first time Kolaric has earned this honor and it is th first time in program history since the Redbirds joined the Summit League. 

Kolaric posted five victories in the previous weekend's play at No. 1 of both singles and doubles. He defeated UIC's Niko Wasilewicz, 6-3, 6-3 and Creighton's Brooks Kendall, 6-2, 6-3 to aid in the shutout victories. Kolaric topped DePaul's Alex Galoustian, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 although the Redbirds were narrowly defeated by the Blue Demons.

He picked up two doubles wins with partner Christoffer Greve over DePaul, 6-3, and Creighton, 6-0.

Kolaric extended his singles win streak to four matches, improving his singles record to 9-2.

The Redbirds will be back on the road Sunday, March 4 to face Denver at 1 p.m. in Denver, Colorado.
