SOUTH BEND, Ind. – At Saturday's Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Anderson Devonish, Derrius Rodgers, Brandon Gage, and Ben Montgomery shattered the ISU school record.
The team finished third with a time of 3:11.59, surpassing Menefee, Little, Monix, and Davenport's previous record of 3:13.04 that had stood since 1980. The mark, which currently ranks first in the Valley, was a great ending to a very solid weekend.
"This weekend was an opportunity to get quality competitions under our belt as we inch closer to the conference meet," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jeff Bovee. "The sprints and hurdles crew had an outstanding weekend, with multiple top-three finishes across the board. We built some great momentum, and are taking steps in the right direction."
The 60-meter hurdles squad continues to excel, with Kentre Patterson and Demetria Anderson each making noise in the finals of their respective events. Patterson recorded a personal-record yet again, finishing second with a time of 7.95. He not only ranks second in ISU history, but is third in the Valley as well. Anderson finished fifth in the women's section with a time of 8.49 and currently holds the fastest time in the MVC.
In the 60-meter dash, Kelsie Prear made her presence known. She advanced to the finals of the event, where she finished third in a personal-record 7.58. She now ranks tenth all-time in ISU history and sixth in the Valley.
The women's mid-distance crew also experienced success on Day Two. In the 800-meter run, Hattie Plumb recorded a new personal-best of 2:12.32. With the mark, she cracks ISU's top-10 list, ranking ninth all-time. She is also seeded fourth in the MVC.
Grace Beattie captured a personal-record in the mile run, crossing the finish line in 4:53.76. She now ranks ninth in Redbird track & field history, as well as seventh in the Valley.
In the field, freshman Logan Calvin had a career day, launching a personal-best throw of 17.24m (56-06.75) to finish third in the shot put. His mark catapults him into fifth on ISU's top ten list.
