NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State sophomore David Perkins has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Seminole Intercollegiate on February 24-25.
The East Peoria, Illinois native placed in a tie for 11th in the field of 75 golfers, including four individuals ranked inside the top 100. The Sophomore finished with a two-under-par 214 over the three rounds, including a three-under-par 69 in the first round of the tournament. He helped lead the Redbirds to a sixth-place finish in the tournament with scores of 290, 290, and 292 over the three rounds.
The sophomore's two-under-par 214 this weekend marks his career best tournament score. He also tied his second-best round of the season with his three-under-par 69 in the first round of the tournament last Saturday.
Perkins and the Redbirds will continue their spring season on March 12-14 when they travel to Dallas, Texas, to participate in Oral Robert's Bob Sitton Invitational at the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas.
