NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's golf team will begin its opening round Monday at Oral Roberts' Bob Sitton Invitational at the par-71 TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas. The tournament features a 54-hole stroke-play format, with 18 holes slated for Monday, 18 on Tuesday and the final 18 on Wednesday. An 8 a.m. CT shotgun start starts play the first day, while groups are schedule to start the final round at the same time on holes one and 10. Live scoring throughout the tournament will be available at BirdieFire.com.
Sixteen teams will be competing in the tournament. Joining the Redbirds, and host Oral Roberts are Western Illinois, Utah State, Rice, CSU-Fullerton, Texas State, Abilene Christian, Stephen F. Austin, North Texas, Northern Iowa, Southeastern Louisiana, Northern Colorado, Central Arkansas, Utah Valley and Louisiana Tech.
"February was a productive month of preparation and competition for us, said head coach Ray Kralis. "I am looking forward to building on our momentum in this event and over the entire spring break. We've done a good job of setting weekly goals and managing our minds and emotions so we continue to increase our belief in ourselves and enhance our confidence. We'll follow the same game plan on this trip."
Teams are constructed with five student-athletes, however only the top-four scores count towards the school's overall total in each round. The Redbirds will be represented by junior Trent Wallace, senior Zach Burry, sophomore David Perkins junior David Rauer and freshman Daniel Anfield.
