Normal, Ill. – The Illinois State women's gymnastics team hosted senior night to honor Alyssa Bossle, Megan Knoernschild, Katherine Locher, and Marie Priest as they defeated Midwest Independent Conference foe Centenary with their season-best score of 193.600. Centenary followed with a score of 191.075.
"Our goal each meet is to keep improving and get better on all four events," ISU head Coach Bob Conkling said. "The seniors were happy with the result of today's meet, and they were glad to perform their exhibition routines."
Senior Marie Priest posted a season-best score of 9.725 on beam for her final meet inside Horton Field House. Sophomore Gabrielle Cooke earned a career-high in the all-around with a 39.250, aided by her career-high performance on floor with a score of 9.900. Cooke also had solid performances on beam (9.775), and vault (9.825).
Anna Marema led for the 'Birds on the uneven bars with a first place score of 9.825 Teammate Alyssa Wiggle also had a strong performance on the uneven bars as she posted a score of 9.750. Junior Brianna Barrett tied for fourth place on the floor with a score of 9.725.
"We didn't count a fall the entire meet, and I'm really happy with how the team performed as a whole," Conkling said.
ISU returns to action Sunday, Mar. 11, to compete in the Illinois Classic against UIC, Illinois, and Northern Illinois. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Chicago.
