NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State's women's tennis team prepares for the last match up of the 2018 dual season against Valparaiso this weekend.
The match will take place on Saturday, April 21 at 3 p.m. and will be held at the Gregory Street tennis courts in Normal, Illinois if weather permits. If the weather is not permitting, the match up will be held at the Bloomington Tennis Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
Illinois States Veronika Golanova is currently 4-0 in Conference at number one singles. She has defeated Bradley's S. Maletin 6-3, 6-3, Missouri State's A. Darter 6-4, 6-4, Drake's S. Brills 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 and UNI's G. Kemper 7-6, 6-4. Laura Fitzgerald is also undefeated in conference in the five and six singles spots. She claimed victory over Bradley's K. Kovacs 6-3, 6-0, Missouri State's A. Belote 6-2, 6-0, Drake's M. Webb, 6-2, 6-0 and UNI's H. Proudfoot 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Fitzgerald also holds the number one singles record on the team and fourth in conference, currently at 14-5.

After completion of this week, Illinois State will begin the Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships. First round will be held on Friday, April 27, semifinal round will be held on Saturday, April 28 and championship round will be held on Sunday, April 29. All matches will take place at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
