BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team shut out South Dakota State Saturday, April 7 at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
With this win, the Redbirds are now 9-1 on their home court. The flight one doubles pair of Igor Kolaric and Christoffer Greve earned the first win for the Birds. Andreas Boers and Pol Botifoll Rius clinched the doubles point for Illinois State, after defeating Emerson Styles and Aidan DeBoer.
Greve overcame Alexander Reinke in the No.2 spot of singles, improving his dual season record to 13-4. Boers evened his record at 8-8, with a win over Carlos Martinez. Manuel Bernhard clinched the match for Illinois State by topping Henrique Stemmer in the No. 5 spot. Rius earned the next victory for Illinois State, making him 11-5 since joining the Redbird squad in the dual season. Kolaric took his match over Styles earning him an 8-3 record since taking over the No. 1 spot. Egehan Sertkaya closed out the match by defeating Marco Paulo Castro in a three-set match.
The Redbirds will be back in action to take on Chicago State Wednesday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
