NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will be competing in Missouri's Tiger Invitational beginning Monday at the par-72, 7,221-yard Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri, in its final tournament before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
The tournament features a 54-hole stroke-play format, with 36-holes being played Monday and the final 18-holes being played Tuesday, April 10. The first two rounds of play will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, and the final round will start at 8 a.m. as well. Live scoring will be available throughout the event at GolfStat.com.
Fifteen teams will be competing in the tournament, including three teams in the MVC (Drake, Loyola Chicago, Missouri State). The field also includes Missouri, Central Arkansas, Northern Illinois, North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, Kansas State, Morehead State, SIUE, Seattle, South Dakota and South Dakota State.
The Redbirds will be represented by sophomore David Perkins, senior Zach Burry, junior Trent Wallace, junior David Rauer, and freshman Daniel Anfield.
"We're hoping for some better conditions so we can get back into a rhythm," said head coach Ray Kralis. "We'll be ready to compete regardless as we have been dealing with adverse conditions in the Midwest since our return from spring break. I believe the challenging conditions during our Weibring Intercollegiate last weekend exposed some things and will benefit us going forward. We definitely want to finish off a very successful regular season on a positive note."
