NORMAL, Ill. – Thirteen-time MVC Champion and two-time NCAA Honorable Mention All-American Anderson Devonish posted a strong showing at the 2018 IBCL Barbados National Athletics Championships, June 22-24.
Competing in the 400-meter dash, Devonish won his preliminary heat in 47.35, posting the fastest qualifying time among all competitors. He returned the following day to clock a 46.75 in the finals, finishing a close second to Jonathon Jones, an incoming freshman at Texas.
Devonish also competed in the 200-meter dash, again recording the fastest qualifying time of 21.12 in the preliminary round. He placed fifth in the finals, crossing the finish line in 20.95.
Devonish's post-collegiate season is far from over, as his personal-best 400-meter time of 45.97 that he ran at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary Round on May 26 has qualified him for several other meets. Devonish will compete in the 400-meter at both the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Colombia, July 17-August 4, and the North American and Caribbean Games (NACA) in Canada, August 10-12.
