Redbird Baseball to Host Illinois, IWU in Midweek Games

The Bo Durkac Show

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will host a pair of midweek contests against regional foes as it welcomes in Illinois on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Duffy Bass Field.

Illinois State will welcome Illinois for its annual "Stuff the Duff" game on April 11 at 6 p.m., as the Redbirds will try to set a new Duffy Bass Field attendance record. The next day, on April 12 at 4 p.m., Illinois State will welcome Illinois Wesleyan for the 157th meeting of the two programs in the annual Horenberger-Bass Classic.

Both games – and all Illinois State home baseball games this season – will feature free admission.

Illinois State (9-20) returns to action after winning two games in a three-game series versus Dayton over the weekend. Strong pitching performances from Brady Huffman and Brent Headrick, and a big weekend at the plate from Collin Braithwaite, helped the Redbirds win the series.

Illinois (11-18) avoided being swept by No. 18 Michigan in a three-game series over the weekend, earning a 7-5 win over the Wolverines on Sunday.

The Redbirds will go with left-hander Colton Johnson (1-2, 4.30) to start Tuesday's game. Illinois has tabbed right-hander Matthew James (0-1, 8.83) to make the start. Starters for Wednesday's game have not yet been named.

Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN3, and links for live video, audio and stats are available at GoRedbirds.com. Fans can also follow @RedbirdBaseball on Twitter for live updates and more.
