The Illinois State womens tennis team and head coach Chris Hoover are excited to start play in their home opener against No. 11 regionally-ranked DePaul Blue Demons.
The team hopes to draw a big crowd and get some of our fans there to cheer us on, Hoover said. DePaul has always given us fits, so this should be a good match.
The Redbirds are coming off of a challenging weekend where they went 0-2 against No. 58 Furman and No. 3 Georgia.
This weekend will not get any easier for the Redbirds as they go up against the 5-2 Blue Demons. The Blue Demons went 3-0 last weekend dominating the Hawkeye Classic by defeating Iowa, Iowa State, and Drake.
The Blue Demons have handed the Redbirds losses in their last three meetings in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Fridays match against the DePaul Blue Demons begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
