FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Timon Reichelt and Redbird teammate Filip Miljevic continue their doubles success as Illinois State's men's tennis team concluded day one at the Dills Indoor Stadium and George M. Billingsley Tennis Center at the ITA Central Regional Championships Friday, in Fayetteville, Ark.

In doubles play, the tandem of Reichelt and Miljevic defeated PJ Hendrie and Adam Reeb of St. Louis, 8-3, to advance ahead in the main draw play. The pair will play Eric West and Anton Leonenko of Southern Illinois for a spot in Saturday's quarterfinals.

Reichelt and Miljevic improve their doubles record to 6-1.

In other doubles competition, Micah LeMoine and Michael Hobson faced the tournament's No. 1 doubles seed, Nathan Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State. The Redbirds played tough, but were unable to pull through for the win. Oklahoma State won the match, 8-4, to move to the quarterfinal round. The pair of Daniel Tobar and Xavier Riart-Ferrer dropped their first round match to David Bendheim and Calin Paar (Nebraska), 8-1.

In singles action, Reichelt advanced to the second round after besting Sean McManus of St. Louis, 6-1, 6-3. Reichelt then fell to the No. 1 tournament seed, Arnau Brugues of Tulsa, 6-1, 6-0. Miljevic also advance to the second round of play after he defeated David Cavalcanti (Wichita State) in a three set-match, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. Miljevic was stopped by the No. 10 seed Nathan Byrnes (Oklahoma State), 6-3, 7-6(8).

LeMoine, Hobson, Riart-Ferrer and Tobar all lost their first round singles matches dropping them into the consolation bracket. Hobson was the only Redbird to advance in the consolation bracket after a win over Drake's Konrad Kanizelich, 6-0, 6-1. He will face Nick Spinazze (Arkansas) in Saturday's competition.

"Overall it was a disappointing day for us," said head coach Cris James. "I'm not only disappointed with our results, but the way we performed. We need to make our opponents work harder, we handed them some of the matches. The silver lining of the day was that Timon and Filip are still alive in doubles. I think that Filip is beginning to feel more comfortable with the competition; in his second round singles match he faced a good player, and almost came out with the win."

The Redbirds continue tomorrow with doubles and consolation singles matches.
