NORMAL, Ill. -
Fresh off a second place team finish, and individual-medalist honors by sophomore Drew Miller, the Illinois State men's golf team will look to continue its recent trend of success as the Redbirds head to Jonesboro, Ark., Monday-Tuesday, April 7-8 to compete in the 12th annual ASU Indian Classic. The 54-hole, 16-team event will be played at the par-72, 6,903 yard Sage Meadows Golf Course.
Along with Miller, two other Redbirds finished the Branson Creek Invitational (March 31-April 1) in the top-10 as freshman Jeff Kellen tied for sixth with a two-round-total of 146 (72, 74), and sophomore Tommy Bliefnick carded a two-day-total of 147 (69, 78), on his way to a 10th-place tie.
ISU has finished in the top-half of the field as a team in two of its last three events. Illinois State will be joined in Arkansas by fellow Missouri Valley Conference members Missouri State, Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois.
Tee times are scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start both days. The first 36-holes will be played Monday with the tournament concluding with the final 18-holes on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
