Redbird Duo Set to Play Olympic Team in Exhibition Game

NORMAL, Ill.- Current Illinois State softball player Abby Olson, along with former Redbird Tiffany Prager, will get the opportunity of a softball player's lifetime Saturday, when they square off against the three-time defending Olympic gold-medal winning USA Softball Women's National Team in exhibition action at Champion Fields, as part of the Red, White and Blue's "Bound for Beijing Tour." The exhibition game is slated to begin at 5 p.m., and all tickets have been sold out.

Olson and Prager will be playing in the exhibition game as members of the Bloomington Lady Hearts, an Amateur Softball Association (ASA) summer traveling team that is made up of both current and former collegiate softball players from the Midwest.

"It's going to be an amazing experience," said Prager, a May 2008 graduate of Illinois State, who is playing for the Bloomington Lady Hearts while pursuing her post-graduate career. "I am obviously very excited about playing against the best team in the world, and just getting the opportunity to play on the same field as the USA softball team is a dream come true (for me)."

The USA Softball Women's National Team's "Bound for Beijing Tour" is a 60-plus-game exhibition tour that pits the USA Softball Women's National Team against some of the best collegiate competition in the United States. The Red, White and Blue started the tour in mid-February, and have a 37-1 record through May 25, with their lone loss coming in a 1-0 no-hit setback to Virginia Tech March 26.
