Illinois State sophomore middle blocker Tabitha Visk and senior libero Kasey Mollerus were named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Visk was named to the first team and Mollerus was an honorable mention selection.
Visk appeared in every match, ranking second on the team in kills (251) and third in blocks (58). She registered double-digit kills in the first four matches of the season, including 15 against UT Arlington and Loyola, and was named to the Redbird Classic All-Tournament Team. Visk had a career-high 16 kills against Wake Forest and Southern Illinois and a career-high six blocks against Creighton. She had 151 kills and 35 blocks in Valley play.
Visk has a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) in family & consumer science. Earlier this season, Visk was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team.
Mollerus started every match as ISU's libero and led the team in digs (437) for the fourth-consecutive year. She ended her career with 2,060 digs, the most in school history and the fourth-most in Valley history. She became ISU's all-time lead in digs with 25 at home against Drake and had a season-high 29 digs on the road against Drake. She had double-digit digs in 25 matches, including five matches with at least 20 digs.
Mollerus has a 3.44 cumulative GPA in early childhood education.
