IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Illinois State men's tennis team suffered its fourth road loss this season against Western Michigan, 7-0, Saturday, at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center in Iowa City, Iowa. The Redbirds ended the weekend with a 2-4 record.

The No. 33 doubles team of Michael Calderone and Zeyad Montasser defeated Skip Span and Daniel Tobar (No. 56), 8-5, at the No. 1 doubles position. Timon Reichelt and Michael Hobson were topped at the No. 2 spot by Casey Cullen and Kevin Hayward, 8-4.

In singles, Tobar forced three sets against Montasser at the No. 4 position, before falling 6-3, 3-6, 10-5, in the tiebreaker. The Broncos defeated Illinois State at all six singles positions.

"It was a disappointing loss," said head coach Cris James. "We made progress yesterday against Iowa. I was hoping we would've carried that into today, instead we ended up taking a few steps backwards."

Illinois State is looking to bounce back next weekend, as the team travels to Chicago to take on No. 75 DePaul Saturday, Feb. 21. The Redbirds will return home Sunday, Feb. 22, to host Western Illinois. The match against DePaul is scheduled for 3 p.m., while the Western Illinois match is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m., at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Ill.
