'Red Alert' Gears Up for 2009-10 Renewal Effort

April 6, 2009

NORMAL, Ill. - While the 2008-09 athletic season is still in full swing with spring sports currently competing, the Illinois State Athletics Department and its marketing office are already gearing up for the upcoming 2009-10 season. With that effort comes the call for current "Red Alert" members to renew their "Red Alert" passes for the 2009-10 athletic season and to get ready for a new attendance incentive program that will go into effect in August.

The year-long pass offers "Red Alert" members first priority for available student tickets and/or admission to regular season home athletics events. Passes for the 2009-10 school year cost just $50, and students that sign up before May 1 will be entered into a drawing to win a Nintendo Wii.

Red Alert members can renew their passes by logging into their iCampus account (www.icampus.ilstu.edu) and clicking on the "Financial Info" tab.

For the 2009-10 school year, a new twist will be added to the "Red Alert" membership, as pass holders will automatically be entered into a new "Red Alert" attendance incentive program that seeks to increase student attendance to all Illinois State Athletics events, while rewarding those "Red Alert" members who display a special loyalty and devotion to Redbird Athletics. "Red Alert" members will earn points for attendance at athletics events and will be rewarded with prizes for achieving specific point totals.

The pass also includes priority-seating privileges for "The Zoo" at home football games, and in "The Bird Cage" at Redbird home volleyball and men's and women's basketball games. "Red Alert" pass holders are admitted into the venue 15 minutes earlier than the general public, and have seating reserved in specific areas. For football, students sit at the south end of Hancock Stadium. For volleyball matches and basketball games, the designated "Red Alert" seating areas are Sections D, E, F and G of Redbird Arena

"Red Alert" student group members will receive a complimentary red T-shirt to wear at Redbird athletic contests, and receive various promotional opportunities at "Red Alert" sponsor locations.

Over 4,600 ISU students became members of "Red Alert" in 2008-09. The group represents one of the largest registered student organizations (RSOs) at Illinois State and has become increasingly involved in various on-campus events and community-service projects. "Red Alert" hosted the "Torchlight Tipoff" event as part of the 2008 ISU Homecoming, and recently held a very successful "Bleed for Tickets" blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross.
