ISU Athletics Partners with Comcast SportsNet Chicago

Oct. 13, 2010

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State Athletics will continue to hold its television footprint in the Chicago media market with a new four-game agreement with Comcast SportsNet Chicago, whose regional television base reaches 4.7 million homes, for the 2010-11 Redbird men's basketball season.

Comcast SportsNet, which is the television home for the most game and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, is available on most cable outlets in the state of Illinois, as well as DirectTV and Dish Network. Redbird fans who receive Comcast SportsNet will be able to see home games against Montana State (Dec. 4), UIC (Dec. 11) and Drake (Jan. 30), and the road game at Southern Illinois (Jan. 9).

ISU Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger is appreciative of these new relationships and the efforts of Comcast SportsNet's Senior Director of Programming Greg Bowman to make this happen.

"This is another testament of the marketability of Illinois State Athletics not only within our state, but among one of the largest media markets in the world," Zenger said. "We are thrilled to begin this partnership with Comcast SportsNet. Thanks to Greg's belief in Redbird Athletics and our product, we hope that this is just the start of a long-standing relationship with CSN."

Bowman knows the value of Illinois State Athletics on Comcast SportsNet.

"We're very pleased to be bringing these games to our viewers in what will be yet another exciting season for Illinois State basketball and their always-impressive fan base," Bowman said.

WMBD Sports Director Kurt Pegler will continue his role as the play-by-play voice of the telecast, while former ISU assistant coach Bob Morris will serve as the analyst for the 2010-11 season.

In addition to the institutional package, the Redbirds will also be on ESPNU for the home game against Southern Illinois (Jan. 23) and will be seen on Comcast SportsNet again, along with Fox Sports Midwest, for the Evansville (Jan. 15) and Bradley (Feb. 22) games. Since the 2007-08 season, the Redbird men's basketball team has appeared on national, regional or local television 61 times
