NORMAL, Ill. -
Two Illinois State student-athletes received CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic At-Large All-District V recognition Thursday. Sophomore tennis player Hannah Esker was named to the first team and senior diver Katelyn Prorok was named to the second team.
Esker was an All-Valley pick at No. 6 Singles and No. 3 Doubles in 2010, winning the MVC Individuals Championships in both positions. She posted team-best records of 22-6 in singles and 23-9 in doubles. Esker won her final 11 singles matches and posted a perfect 7-0 record in Valley play.
An MVC Scholar-Athlete selection, Esker has a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) in mathematics. As a first-team selection, Esker is now on the Academic All-America ballot and will be evaluated against first-team choices from all eight districts.
Prorok earned her third All-Valley First-Team honor this season, finishing second on the three-meter board and third on the one-mater board at the conference championship meet. She competed in the NCAA Regional for the second-straight year, placing 44th. A member of the AFNI Honor Roll every semester at ISU, Prorok has a 3.95 cumulative GPA in middle level teacher education.
