Rain Suspends Illinois State-Evansville Game in Fourth

May 20, 2010

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Illinois State's baseball game with Evansville was suspended in the fourth inning with the score tied at 2-2 due to heavy rain, followed by unplayable field conditions, at Braun Stadium Thursday night. The teams will attempt to resume the game at 3 p.m. Friday and play the regularly schedule contest 30 minutes after the first game's conclusion.

Illinois State scored a run in the first inning on a botched double play ball and added another run in the second on an RBI triple by Zach Amrein. Evansville scored two runs in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Shawn Kuester and a sacrifice fly by John Day. Illinois State was held scoreless in the top of the fourth before the rain stopped the game while Illinois State starter Corey Maines was preparing to throw in the bottom half.

Saturday's series finale is still scheduled for 1 p.m. Any further adjustments to the schedule will be posted at GoRedbirds.com.
