Aug. 24, 2010

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head women's basketball coach Stephanie Glance announced the hiring of Lindsay Weiss as coordinator of basketball operations Tuesday.

"Lindsay is a great addition to our staff," Glance said. "As coordinator of basketball operations, her duties will include many in-house administrative tasks as well as handling some of our video needs. Lindsay brings a combination of administrative, playing and coaching experience. We are really happy to have her!"

Weiss spent five months as an intern with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in Atlanta, Ga., where she assisted the manager of new initiatives with the daily operations of the WBCA Pink Zone and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Her duties with the Pink Zone program included coordinating participation, distributing marketing and promotional materials, collecting donations and promoting events through social media platforms. She also assisted in numerous events and meetings at the WBCA National Convention at the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio.

"I am thrilled to join the Redbird family," Weiss said. "To be a part of the long tradition of success of Illinois State women's basketball and to work with coach Glance, who has such a depth of knowledge and experience, truly is an exciting opportunity. The support of women's basketball by the university, athletic department, and community is unmatched, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of this program."

A native of Goldendale, Wash., Weiss was a two-year letterwinner (2002-04) at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash. A two-time All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selection, Weiss averaged 12.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She was named to the Central Washington Team of the Decade (2000-09). After graduating, Weiss served as a graduate assistant coach with the Wildcats for three seasons (2004-07).

Weiss has a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in sports and athletic administration from Central Washington.
