TEMPE, Ariz. -
The Illinois State swimming and diving team braved the forty-five degree weather and competed in the Arizona State Winter Invitational. Held Jan. 1, in Tempe, Arizona, the Redbirds competed alongside host Arizona State, Illinois and Utah. Events and relays held during the meet were not scored.
Head coach Steve Paska was pleased with the team's performance and training.
"We had our first opportunity to compete since Akron, as we prepare for the forthcoming dual meets and Missouri Valley Conference championships during the rest of the 2010-11 season," Paska said. "The meet allows us to get that competitive edge and another chance to swim against very high quality programs in Utah, Arizona State and Illinois."
The team has been training in Tempe since Dec. 29, and will continue to practice there until Jan. 7 as they prepare for their first dual of the spring semester against Ball State Jan. 14.
