NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will welcome 14 teams to the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University Oct. 1-2, for the 16th playing of the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. The tournament will kick off Saturday with 36-holes, beginning with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. It will then wrap up with 18-holes Sunday, starting with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The Redbirds return to Normal, Ill. following an eighth place finish at the Cardinal Intercollegiate. Sophomore Wils Hawn and junior Ricky Heardenwill look to carry momentum for the Redbirds after both had top-10 finishes at the Cardinal Intercollegiate.
In addition to Hawn and Hearden, head men's golf coach Ray Kralis will send out senior Eric Meier, junior Ryan Murphy and freshman Jordan Fahel to compete for Illinois State. Juniors Matt Hageman and Matt Soliswill participate in the tournament as individuals.
Returning to compete in the tournament will be Illinois, the defending 2010 D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate champion. Joining the Illini will be Akron, Arkansas State, Bradley, Detroit Mercy, Missouri State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, West Florida, Western Illinois and Wisconsin.
