ESPN Decatur Signs Two-Year Deal with ISU Athletics

July 19, 2012

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State football and men's basketball radio broadcasts will continue to be on the Decatur airwaves, as Redbird Athletics and ESPN Decatur WDZ-AM 1050 signed a two-year agreement, continuing the Neuhoff Media station as an affiliate of the Illinois State Sports Network.

"Vice president and general manager Mark Hanson, sports director Aric Lee and the rest of the WDZ staff have been great radio partners, and we are thrilled to remain on the air in the Decatur area," Illinois State Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Communications Todd Kober said. "We have a number of alumni and fans in the Decatur area and being heard on ESPN Decatur not only keeps those entities in tune with Redbird Athletics, but our partnership with ESPN Decatur also strengthens our presence around the entire state with our radio network."

WDZ will carry at least 80 percent of Illinois State football and men's basketball games each season. A final broadcast schedule will be issued at a later date.

"I'm happy to report that WDZ AM 1050, better known as ESPN Decatur, re-signed for a two-year commitment with Illinois State University to carry its football and men's basketball radio broadcasts," Hanson said. "We are looking forward to an exciting season and are extremely confident in the athletic ability of these young men."

Other stations on the Illinois State Sports Network include WJBC-AM 1230 and FM 93.7 in Bloomington (flagship), WFMB-AM 1450 in Springfield, ESPN Peoria WZPN 96.5, WJEZ-FM 98.9 in Dwight and WVON-AM 1690 in Chicago. Negotiations with other stations throughout the state are ongoing.
