NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State baseball announced three fall high school baseball camps Monday, offering student-athletes a unique opportunity to train under the guidance of the Redbirds coaching staff.
"The goal of our high school showcase camps is to provide maximum exposure for the high school student-athlete,” head coach Mark Kingston said. “The day will be filled with high-level instruction and one-on-one interaction. This is a great way to learn more about the Redbird baseball program, while we in turn learn more about each camper."
Intended for serious high school baseball players looking to compete at the college-level, the camps are scheduled for August 18 and 25 and October 27. Each one-day session includes a pro-style workout, game play, position-specific instruction and informational sessions. Following the camp, each participant will receive a comprehensive evaluation formulated by the Redbird coaching staff. The full-day event will take place at Duffy Bass Field, the recently-renovated home ballpark of ISU baseball.

ISU finished 2012, 33-19, marking the first time in program history the Redbirds have completed three-consecutive 30-plus win campaigns. Kingston secured his 100th career victory following ISU’s 10-3 victory over Evansville in opening-round action of the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship. Former closer Kenny Long was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 22nd round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, while teammates Ty Wiesemeyer and Matt Mirabal began professional careers in the independent Frontier League.
