The Illinois State Redbirds Prepare to Match Up

Oct. 3, 2013

NORMAL - - The Illinois State swimming and diving team will return to Horton Pool on Saturday, Oct., 5 at 9:30 a.m., for the team's annual Red-White Intrasquad Meet. This meet is tradition for the team and is held at the beginning of every season.

The Redbirds will be split into two teams at the meet, the Red team and the White team. They will be competing against each other in a number of events including several different strokes, diving and relays.

Head coach Steve Paska is excited to kick-off the homecoming weekend with the Red-White Intrasquad Meet and is interested in seeing the progress of the student-athletes from last weekend.

"The red white intrasquad meet has been annual scrimmage that opens up the dual meet portion of our schedule since 1985 and even before my coaching career began at Illinois State," said Paska. "The student athletes have been training since August and are excited to race Saturday morning at Horton pool during Homecoming weekend. This meet will be an evaluation tool determining dual meet lineups for the next 6 weeks. I'm looking forward to watching the redbird swimmers and divers perform in a college meet setting for the first time in 2013.
