McIntosh Nominated for NABC Good Works Team

INDIANAPOLIS – Junior forward MiKyle McIntosh is one of 111 NCAA Division I men's basketball student-athletes nominated for the 2017 Allstate Good Works Team, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Wednesday.

From the group of nominees revealed Wednesday, a panel will select a 10-member team comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of award recipients will be unveiled in February. This esteemed award honors an outstanding group of student-athletes who represent the sport's finest in the areas of community service and leadership among their peers.

McIntosh was recently named the 2016 recipient of the Dr. Jim Johnson Phoenix Award which is presented to an Illinois State student-athlete who has overcome academic challenges and has made consistent academic progress throughout his or her career. A native of Pickering, Ontario, McIntosh came to Illinois State as an academic non-qualifier, but now, McIntosh holds a 2.74 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) in recreation management and is a two-time AFNI Honor Roll member. He most recently earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the summer of 2016.

Along with his work in the classroom, McIntosh also gives back to the community. Throughout his Illinois State career, McIntosh has logged more than 15 hours of community service. On the court, McIntosh earned 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention Team and MVC Most-Improved Team (designated captain) accolades after averaging 10.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while playing in 31 contests with 27 starts as a sophomore.

A 2016 Preseason All-MVC First Team selection, McIntosh currently ranks second on the team in both scoring (14.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg).
