NORMAL, Ill. – The sixth-annual women's basketball Play 4Kay cancer awareness game returns to Redbird Arena Friday when the women's basketball team takes on Indiana State at 7 p.m.

Illinois State will be raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund by featuring Play 4Kay T-shirt sales, raffles and decorative luminary sales on the list of available options for fans to support cancer research. Shirts are $20 and will be available for purchase at the game on Friday, near the East entrance of the arena concourse. Limited quantities are available.

Luminaries will be available for purchase on the concourse during the game as well. Fans are encouraged to decorate a luminary in honor of a loved one who has been affected by cancer. All fundraising initiatives at the Play 4Kay game will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the arena during the game. Area businesses have graciously donated various prizes to be included in raffle prize baskets that will be awarded during the game. Tickets cost $5 for 6 tickets, or $20 for an arm's length of tickets. Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will be on hand to assist with raffle sales throughout the game.

Patrons wishing to attend the game as a fan can purchase $1 tickets from the Illinois State Athletics Ticket Office by phone at (309) 438-8000 or in-person at the ISU Athletics Ticket Offices, located at Redbird Arena, open Monday thru Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions about this event, please contact Assistant Director of Marketing Josh Remington at jdremin@ilstu.edu, or by phone at (309) 438-1320.

Play 4Kay game efforts were started by the late Kay Yow, former North Carolina State head women's basketball coach. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and fought the disease three times until her death in 2009. While courageously battling cancer, Coach Yow started the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in 2007, which serves to raise money for scientific research and to assist the efforts to fight against women's cancers. To date, the fund has grown nationwide and contributed $5.1 million to support cancer research.

The ISU Athletics Department and women's basketball team would like to give a special thanks to the generous sponsors that make the Play 4Kay event possible, including Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Community Cancer Center, Mennonite College of Nursing and the Student Nurses Association at Illinois State University.
