Wallace Concludes Second Round of Kohler Regional

Second Round Results

KOHLER, Wis. – Illinois State men's golfer Trent Wallace started very strong Tuesday with a pair of birdies over the first three holes but could not keep the momentum, as the freshman continued NCAA Regional play at Blackwolf Run's Meadow Valleys Course. He ended his second round with a 6-over-par 78 and sits in a five-way tie for 55th place, after firing an even-par 72 in Monday's opening round, which gives him a two-day total of 6-over-par 150 (72-78).

Wallace started his round on the back nine, where he shot a 2-under-par 34 Monday. He parred the 10th and then collected two birdies on the par-5 11th and the par-4 12th, which moved him to 2-under and in a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard. Wallace then bogeyed two of the next three holes, before bogeying 18 to finish the back nine with a 1-over-par 37.

The front nine was not kind to Wallace, who only managed two pars and one birdie, which occurred at the par-5 seventh, while his pars came at the par-4 first and the par-3 third.

Florida, who was tied with Idaho after the first round, sits all alone in first place on the team leaderboard with an 11-under-par 565 (283-282), seven strokes ahead of second-place Illinois. The Gators' Alejandro Tosti leads the field of 75 student-athletes with a 6-under-par 138 (70-68), after firing a 4-under-par 68 in the second round.

Wallace returns to action Wednesday morning when the third and final round tees off at 8 a.m.
