Illinois State Signs Alston Andrews to NLI

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head coach Dan Muller has announced the signing of current high school senior Alston Andrews to a National Letter of Intent to compete for Illinois State starting in the 2020-21 basketball season.

Andrews is an athletic 6-9 forward from Ocoee High School and originally from Detroit, Michigan. He missed the entire season in 2018-19 with an injury. He played in the summer for Game Speed Elite. During the summer's Elite 32 Andrews averaged nearly 10 rebounds per game.

"I couldn't be more excited about adding a young man like Alston Andrews to the Redbird Family," said Muller. "Alston has all of the physical tools necessary for him to become an outstanding player here at ISU. He is 6-9 with a 7-1 wingspan, is very mobile, and has great hands and feet. Alston missed his entire junior season due to injury but is fully healthy and the sky is the limit. He is a terrific student and a wonderful young man that will make ISU proud."

Illinois State is currently 2-1 in the 2019-20 season and will face off against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, Nov. 22 in the opening round of the Paradise Jam, hosted in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
