NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head coach Melinda Fischer announced on Wednesday the addition of Rebecca Moffett to the Redbird softball program. Moffett joined ISU at the beginning of the fall semester and comes by way of John A. Logan College.
"Rebecca brings a lot of passion, energy and intensity to our program," Fischer shared. "Her energy is contagious and will benefit those around her. Rebecca has set high expectations for herself and will figure out a way to reach her goals. She's a natural player and very competitive. Offensively, she can help us throughout the lineup. She's proven she has some pop, good speed and that she can run the bases. Once she learns our system, she's really going to help on both sides of the ball."
Moffett joins the Redbird softball program after a two-year stint at John A. Logan College. While with the Lady Vols, Moffett registered 126 hits, 22 doubles, eight triples, 11 home runs, 95 RBIs and 33 stolen bases. She posted a career-best .447 batting average her freshman campaign, while posting an on-base percentage near .450 and a slugging percentage over .645 in both of her seasons. Moffett was an all-region performer in 2019, while making the GRAC All-Tournament Team in 2018 and 2019. The Lady Vols reached the GRAC Final Four with a combined overall record of 65-31 in Moffett's seasons at John A. Logan.
A four-year starter at Herrin High School, Moffett helped her program to an overall record of 97-36, including an impressive school-record of 33 wins her senior year. The four-time all-conference performer and two-time All-South Region selection was named her team's MVC during her sophomore and junior seasons. Moffett helped Herrin collect four conference championships, two regional championships and a sectional championship title. She ended her successful high school career with a program-record 30 home runs, while ranking 18th in the state of Illinois with 57 career doubles.
