NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State center Drew Bones was one of 31 FCS players named to the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist on Thursday by the organization.
The Reese's Senior Bowl is the nation's most prestigious college all-star game, as it annually serves as the first step of the NFL Draft process. The Reese's Senior Bowl had 106 total players drafted and 36 selected in the first three rounds in this year's NFL Draft, which represents 41 percent of the NFL Draft.
Bones is a three-year starter at center for the Redbirds, who open the season September 4 at home against Butler. The Ottawa, Kansas, native has been an instrumental part of ISU's success running the football and paved the way for James Robinson in 2019 during his All-America campaign in Normal before starring in his rookie season for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
Last year, former Redbird safety Christian Uphoff became the first ISU player ever to suit up at the Senior Bowl. Uphoff went on to be named the top safety on the National team in a vote from the QB and WR groups at the practice player-of-the-week awards ceremony at the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl.
This year's game will be held February 5, 2022, in Mobile, Alabama, and will be broadcast on the NFL Network. Practices will be shown live on ESPN and NFL Network hosts a daily recap show each evening in primetime.
