Champaign, Ill. - Illinois State Swimming and diving traveled to Champaign, Illinois Saturday for an in-state tri-meet with Illinois and Southern Illinois Saturday. Despite several strong showings the Redbirds dropped both meets, falling 211-88 to the Illini and 183-116 to the Salukis.Â
"I'm proud of our team's commitment to coming together tonight. We improved upon a few details and came together as a whole group. I'm excited to see how the fall continues to progress," head coach Caitlin Hamilton said. Â
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Eva Reyes and freshman Ronja Rundgren led the way for Illinois State with top-3 showings in the 1M and 3M dive. Reyes swept both events for the second straight weekend to remain unbeaten on the season. She posted a 279.5 to win in 3M while her mark of 278.60 took home first in 1M. Meanwhile Rundgren posted the best showing of her young career with third-place finishes in 1M and 3M. Rundgren recorded a score of 279.45 in 3M and posted a 231.10 in 1M.Â
- Lauren Wisdom posted a solid showing as she finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a season-best mark of 10:36.44.Â
- Freshman Ella Turken's 24.36 in the 50-yard freestyle was good for third and also bested her 24.95 in the season-opening meet last weekend.Â
- Cassidy Carey registered a 2:04.88 in the 200-yard backstroke, which put her in second and also beat her 2:05.83 last weekend against McKendree.Â
