Jordan Davis Signs with Redbirds

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head men's basketball coach Ryan Pedon has announced the addition of Jordan Davis to play for the Redbirds starting in the 2023-24 season.

Davis joins the Redbirds after playing the last three seasons at the University of Wisconsin helping the Badgers to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.

"We are thrilled to add Jordan to the program," said Pedon. "Jordan will bring a mixture of size, strength, and toughness. He is a two-way player and will add real value to our program on both sides of the basketball. He has played significant minutes at the Big 10 level, displaying an ability to impact winning, while also taking care of the basketball at a high level. After coaching against him in the Big 10, it was evident that he has a chip on his shoulder, and he cares deeply about winning."

Last season as a junior he played in all 34 games with 18 starts, averaging 5.1 points over 20.6 minutes per game. Scored a career-high 15 points at Northwestern. He had five games in which he scored in double-figures and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds three times during the season. Playing just shy of 720 minutes, he committed just eight turnovers during the season.

As a sophomore in 2021-22 he played in 27 games, and saw double-digit minutes six times, including in four of the team's last five games. He scored a then-career-high seven points with two assists against Minnesota and scored three points with four rebounds against Texas A&M on November 22. He played in 13 games as a true freshman in 2020-21, scoring three points against North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

He was a three-star recruit by both 247Sportrs and Rivals, and he helped La Crosse Central to the WIAA Division 2 state tournament in each of his three years on the varsity team, capturing the state title in 2017. He closed his prep career with 1,101 points, 470 rebounds, 270 assists, and 187 steals. He averaged 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game as a senior, and averaged 12 points, five rebounds and three steals per game as a junior and was named his teams' Defensive Player of the Year.

Davis joins former Southern Illinois guard Dalton Banks and Illinois forward Brandon Lieb, along with a fall signing group that includes 2023 Wisconsin co-Mr. Basketball Johnny Kinziger, Illinois class 2A first team All-State honoree Ty Pence, and Division I Ohio special mention All-State honoree Chase Walker as newcomers for the squad next season.
