LAREDO, Texas – Illinois State improved its score by eight strokes from round one to round two, and ISU is within 10 strokes of a top-10 finish at the 2025 Border Olympics.
Louisiana leads the field with a 36-hole score of 572, with Houston (575), New Mexico State (576), Michigan (579), and Miami (579) rounding out the top five. Rice (582), Louisiana Monroe (587), Sam Houston (588), Lipscomb (589), Troy (591), UTRGV (593), Lamar (595), Wright State (599), and Augusta (599) stand just ahead of ISU's 600, 13 strokes ahead of Houston Christian's 613.
Alex McCulla and TJ Barger are tied for 40th through 36 holes, as each have a two-round 148, McCulla behind a 77 and 71, as Barger shot matching rounds of 74 for his 148.
Will Troy's rounds of 78 and 76 on the par-71 course combine for a 154, which is tied for 66th. Jack Paeglow and Pietro Pontiggia shot a matching 156 to tie for 71st, as each had a rounds of 75 and 81. Paeglow opened with his round of 75, while Pontiggia closed his day with his round of 75.
The Redbirds, alongside Wright State, Augusta, and Houston Christian, tee off on the 14th, 15, 16th, 17th and 18th holes for the third and final round of the tournament.
