ST. LOUIS – Illinois State's Nora Brady and Cayde de Waal have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Runners of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Brady and de Waal each earned their first MVC Weekly Honor following their performances at the Redbird Invite at Weibring Golf Club on Sept. 12.
Brady finished runner-up in the women's 6,000-meter race with a time of 21:42.20. With her performance, the junior climbed to 37th all-time in the 6k Weibring Golf Course record books and helped the ISU women clinch the Redbird Invite title for the third straight year. This marked Brady's second top-10 finish this season, as she placed sixth at the Fighting Illini Invitational on Aug. 29.
In his Redbird debut, de Waal took fifth in the men's 8,000-meter event with a mark of 24:44.6. The junior from South Africa joined the Redbirds after a standout season at Indian Hills Community College, where he was the only athlete in the NJCAA to have qualified for nationals in the 800m, 1k, mile and 3k in 2025.
