Matt DePauw joined the Redbird Volleyball staff in April 2022 after spending the previous four seasons as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Central Michigan. He works with the Illinois State setters and offensive systems in addition to overseeing all recruiting efforts for the Redbirds.
In 2023, DePauw helped coach a trio of All-MVC selections in Aida Shadewald, Cassie Jordan, and Hannah Reichensperger. In his first season with the Redbirds in 2022, Regan Haith and Shadewald were named to the MVC's All-Freshman Team.
In his role with the Chippewas, DePauw planned individual setter training, scouted offensive plans for opponents and implemented practice plans and drills. He also was responsible for planning itineraries for potential student-athlete visits and opening dialogue with prospective student-athletes. DePauw helped guide Central Michigan to a 2019 MAC West Conference title and a 2019 NIVC First Round appearance. He was also a member of the Athletic Diversity Council while at Central Michigan. Additionally, DePauw served as the head coach for the girls 18-2 VC United team, where he was the lead libero trainer for the program.
DePauw graduated from Clarke University in 2017, where he was four-year starting setter and two-time captain for the men’s volleyball program. He finished his career at Clarke second all-time for career assists with 3,957 and eighth all-time for career digs with 713.
During his undergraduate career, DePauw was a women’s volleyball volunteer student coach at Clarke University and a member of the coaching staffs for multiple Wahlert Catholic High School volleyball teams. In his role at Wahlert, he helped guide the program to back-to-back state titles in 2016 and 2017.
In 2020, DePauw earned his Master of Science in General Administration from Central Michigan.
