Wide receiver Garry Davis has left the Illinois State football team. ISU head coach Denver Johnson made that announcement Wednesday.
Garry has decided to leave our team, Johnson said. We hate to lose him, but hes frustrated and he believes his best move at this time is to pursue other interests. We support him in his decision and wish him all the best.
Despite missing a game, Davis was Illinois States leader in receptions (16), yards (243) and touchdown receptions (4). The senior, who transferred from Kentucky prior to the season, was sidelined with a separated shoulder for the Northern Illinois game. He suffered a broken hand in preseason drills and had been battling a sprained ankle in recent weeks.
Johnson said Vito Golson will replace Davis in the starting line-up.
