Birds Place 4th in Shoot-Out

Although Heather Norris placed third in one event and an ISU relay team took second in another, the Illinois State University swimming and diving team finished fourth out of six teams in the Missouri Valley Conference Shoot-Out on Saturday. Heather Norris placed third out of six swimmers in the 1000-yard freestyle event. Also contributing was Lindsay Crowder with a fourth place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, and Deborah Birrer who also finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. An ISU relay team took second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Southern Illinois won the Shoot-Out with a final score of 244. Evansville came in second with a score of 210, barely edging out host Southwest Missouri State which finished third with a final score of 193. Illinois State finished with the final score of 171 in fourth place. Northern Iowa finished fifth with 156 points, and Bradley scored 125 points and finished in sixth place. The Illinois State University swimming and diving team has next weekend off before its home opener against the Illinois and Northern Illinois on Friday Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. at Horton pool.
