Foy Second, Redbirds Fourth at Notre Dame Invitational

Senior Nicole Foy shot a 233 in three rounds of golf and captured second place to lead the Illinois State womens golf team to a fourth-place finish in the Notre Dame Invitational at South Bend, Ind., this weekend. Foy trailed medalist Rebecca Rogers of Notre Dame by eight strokes while Notre Dame held tight to finish first in its own tournament with a total score of 935. Princeton and Xavier University took home second and third place, respectively, and ISU followed behind with a team score of 976. The Redbirds shot 327 on Sunday at Warren Golf Course. Junior Jill Rachford came in next for the Birds, after Foy, in a tie for 19th with a score of 248. Also placing for ISU was Kim Pokarney (23rd), Sara Prack (40th), Abbe Graceffa (48th) and Becky Brtva (49th). The Notre Dame Invitational wrapped up Illinois States fall golf schedule. The Redbirds return to action this spring when they travel to Winter Park, Fla., to participate in the Spaulding/Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at Tuscawilla Country Club.
