The State Farm Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Banquet, an event that will honor the classroom achievements of Illinois State University athletes, will be held Sunday, Oct. 29 at Redbird Arena.
The generosity of the State Farm Insurance Companies has made it possible for us to host a very special event that will give the academic work of our athletes the treatment it deserves, said ISU Senior Associate Athletics Director Linda Herman. Our university will be pleased with the magnitude of this ceremony and it will reflect the wonderful corporate image that State Farm has built since its inception.
Jack North, executive senior vice president at State Farm, will deliver the keynote address. Other speakers will include ISU President Dr. Victor Boschini and athletics director Perk Weisenburger.
The honorees will include the more than 150 members of Illinois States Anderson Financial Network Incorporated (AFNI) Honor Roll. To reach that distinction, student-athletes must post a grade point average of 3.0.
Each member of the AFNI honor roll will be accompanied by an invited faculty guest, while six of the universitys deans will also participate in the recognition portion of the banquet.
Tickets for the banquet, which begins at 6 p.m., are on sale to the public at $25.00 each. The tickets must be purchased in advance by contacting the athletics department at 309/438-3803.
