During the first day of competition at the Kansas State Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, Illinois State golfer Nic Baker shot a 147 (69-78) to lead the Redbirds to a first place finish. The Redbirds are leading the 10 team field with a score of 599 (296-303).
Baker sits at first place, while teammates Adam Goldie and Dave Klaas both fired a total score of 148, landing them at tie for second place. Goldie shot a 73 and 75, while Klaas fired a 76 and 72 for the day.
Rounding out the Redbird competition is B.J. Brown (79-78) and Dan Cerny (78-79), both tied for 27th with a scores of 157.
Trailing the Birds by seven strokes is second place Missouri, with a score of 606 (306-300), and host Kansas State at third place, with a score of 608 (309-299). Individually, Missouris Mark McBride and Iowa States Jamie Faidley are tied at second with two Birds, all with scores of 148.
Final tournament play will resume Tuesday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start at the par 72 * Hills Golf Course.
