A new game day flag, provided courtesy of the Illinois State University Athletics Department, will be flown on the quad to signify Redbird home athletic events.
We are so excited to initiate a new tradition for our institution and our department, Assistant Athletics Director
Leanna Bordner said. The ideals of spirit and tradition are very important to President Boschini, and we are glad we could introduce this idea to compliment his other campus initiatives.
The flag, located in Schroeder Plaza just northeast of the bell on the quad, will be raised at 8 a.m. on days in which any ISU athletic team hosts a home event. The flag will remain raised until all home events that day have been completed.
We believe the location of the flagpole and the flag being flown on game days will become an important part of the campus tours for prospective students, and be emphasized during all aspects of Redbird student campus lives, Bordner said. A visible sign of spirit and tradition, in such a popular and storied campus location speaks volumes to the campuswide support and commitment for our athletic teams, and for that we should all take pride.
