Illinois State punter/kicker Jake Strader has been named the Gateway Football Conferences Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Redbirds 14-12 loss to Youngstown State, Saturday.
The Danville senior made field goals of 36 and 32 yards in the game. He also averaged 45.3 yards on six punts, including a 73-yarder, the second-longest of his career, that was downed at the four-yardline.
Strader, Illinois States career leader with 104 conversion kicks, now ranks No. 6 at the school in career points with 162 and is No. 8 in career field goals with 22.
