Kaufman Football Building to be Dedicated Saturday

The Kaufman Football Building, the new facility that houses Illinois States football program, will be formally dedicated Saturday in ceremonies at the building. The event, which is open to the public, begins with a social at 10:45 a.m. The dedication will be held east of the building, which is located on the northeast corner of Hancock Stadium, and begins at 11:15 a.m. The ceremony will feature the unveiling of a new sign, which contains the name of the building and is located in front of the structure. The sign is brick with a limestone cap and aluminum cap letters. There will also be aluminum cap letters added to the west side (stadium side) of the buildings brick facade. Fred Kaufman and Donna Kaufman, the benefactors who gave $1.5 million to the project, will be the honored guests. The list of speakers will include ISU President Dr. Vic Boschini, vice president for university advancement Susan Kern, board of trustees chair William Sulaski, athletics director Perk Weisenburger and head football coach Denver Johnson. WMBD-TV sports reporter Kurt Pegler, an Illinois State graduate, will be the master of ceremonies. The Kaufmans will be introduced again at halftime ceremonies during the Illinois State-Eastern Illinois football game, which begins at 1 p.m., at Hancock Stadium.
