In the 16 years that head coach
Steve Paska has been coaching he has seen some close meets, but one of the closest was last years contest between his Illinois State Redbirds and the Ball State Cardinals. In that meet the Redbirds defeated the Cardinals by a final score of 152-148.
This years meeting takes place at Ball State's Lewellen Aquatic Center on Friday Nov. 10, at 7 p.m.
The Redbirds enter the meet with a 3-2 record coming off a 177-117 loss to Iowa State.
Ball State enters Fridays meet with a 5-0 record coming off a double-dual meet win against Northern Illinois and Miami. BSU defeated Northern Illinois by a score of 202-98 and Miami, 185-115.
This dual meet has a 16-event format. Paska believes the relays are going to be crucial in determining the outcome of the meet. He also believes the battle that will take place between Andrea Lovelle and Beth Clark in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competition is going to be a treat.
Last week Lovelle qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships with a score of 272.77 on the 3-meter event. Clark won both the 1 and 3-meter events in Ball States victories over Northern Illinois and Miami.
Ball State is a formidable opponent, said Paska, and we have to perform with consistency on Friday if we wish to be successful.
