Illinois States season-opening football game, which will take place the last day of August, is rapidly approaching. With that in mind, ISUs Athletics Department has scheduled a new event, Tailgate Practice, for Thursday, July 20 at the Turner Lot, east Redbird Arena.
Head coach Denver Johnson, his staff and some players will be in attendance.
The team will report in early August to begin getting ready for the season, Johnson said. We figure that its also time for the fans to start their preparations. We know people have been using their grills all summer, but now its time to get back to the parking lots to prove that cooking ability in a public setting.
My staff and I have a lot of experience with this sort of thing and I believe that by tasting the fare, we can provide some useful insight in preparing for the season.
Those attending are encouraged to bring grills and all the trimmings for a regular tailgate. The Turner Lot will open at 5 p.m.
WJBCs SportsTalk show will originate live from the event and sports director Mark Johnson and SportsTalk host R.C. McBride will be in attendance.
