Foy, Rachford Lead 'Birds In Northern Iowa

The Illinois State womens golf team are positioned in seventh place of 12 teams after the first day of competition at the Panther Fall Classic hosted by Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Senior Nicole Foy and junior Jill Rachford lead the Redbird attack as both fired a first round score of 77, landing the teammates in a multiple tie at 10th place. The Redbirds shot a 323 for the day at Beaver Hills Country Club. The leader of the tournament, Iowa State, shot a 293. Lisa Meshke, Cathy Ennis and Laura Wells, all of Iowa State, hold the top three finishes respectively. Redbird Becky Brtva is tied for 37th after shooting an 82, Albiona Zhubi shot an 87 that landed her at 61st place, while Sara Prack shot a 91 and Abbe Graceffa shot a 98, placing them at 75th and 80th place, rounding out the Redbird competitors. Trailing Iowa State is Bradley (304) at second place, Southern Illinois (309) at third place, host Northern Iowa (314) at fourth and Southwest Missouri (315) in the fifth place slot. The final round of the Panther Fall Classic will take place at Beaver Hills Country Club on Monday, September 18.
