Junior Kelly Mahan, a native of Batavia, Ill., was named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 18.
Mahan was chosen for the honor after scoring the decisive goal in Illinois States 3-2 overtime win over Butler on Sunday, in Indianapolis, Ind. Just 35 seconds after entering the game in the second overtime, Mahan took a pass from senior Megan OConnor to knock the ball between the posts and give the Redbirds its fourth win of the year (4-2, 0-1).
The forward recorded her second goal of the year and is currently third on the team in scoring with two goals in 2000 for four points.
