The Illinois State men's tennis team travels to Muncie, Ind., Friday through Sunday for the 22nd annual Ball State Invitational, at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
The three-day tournament starts on Friday and continues through Sunday, with play beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. Finals will be held on Sunday.
Thirteen schools will be participating in the tournament including Ball State, Butler, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Michigan and Wisconsin Green-Bay.
Head coach Greg Kennett is excited about the first tournament and says his team is ready to compete.
"I expect we're going to do really well," Kennett said. "Hopefully we'll get one championship. We have a good chance in the singles A flight and the doubles B flight."
Playing at No. 1 singles is Ricky Heath, No. 2 Jason Smit, No. 3 Yew Ming Si, No. 4 Brent Steven, No. 5 Albert Piasecki, No. 6 Andy Martin and No. 7 Pedro Coutinho.
Kennett's doubles lineup features the duo of Heathe and Si at No. 1, Martin and Smit at No. 2 and Piasecki and Steven at No. 3.
